I am one of those rare awesome people who takes the lead, suggests things, and is willing to be appropriately vulnerable. If the men I date do not respond in kind, then I’m happy to be by myself, because I am fine alone. It is interesting how men will love that at the beginning of dating. They love the strong, independent, confident “me” but as the relationship moves forward, they are intimidated and/or want me to let my boundaries slip. When I hold steadily to the very boundaries they found attractive, problems arise. I still have not figured that one out but I’m not giving up on dating, just continuing to put myself out there to see if there is anyone who can truly appreciate the authentic me. If not, I’ll go play my guitar or work in my garden.

I’m the kind of person who takes the lead, is caring, lovely, etc., but it turns out that I always get hurt at the end of the day because guys mistake my kindness with availability and take for granted I like them.
After your video, I realized I should not change my way of being, I only should break up sooner with the ones who start showing red lights.
